Sunday School meets at 9:00 AM every Sunday during the school year, except the first Sunday of the month. Children return to the morning liturgy during the Peace and participate in the Eucharist.
While St Luke’s has a long history of strong youth education, the current program is only two years old and is the response of the parish to a recent resurgence of young families. There is a small group of parishioners who share the teaching responsibilities.
Similar to the main liturgy, Sunday School gathers with songs, learns the prayers of the church, talks through the catechism, and hears the gospel story. While most of our formational practices can transcend a variety of ages, we utilize age-appropriate tools from the diocese to help each child further engage the gospel story. We hope to continue developing the program in the years to come.
Outside of Sunday School, children and youth participate in the Eucharist through bringing the gifts to the altar, lighting and extinguishing candles, and decorating the church for different seasons.
